using own router with talktalk fibre

Hello Forum, Basically, I have been with TalkTalk and have a router of theirs and I bought a D-Link Router (a fibre enabled one), my question is : Sky have told me, although my 'go live' date is tomorrow (2nd May), I may not get the router on time, can i use my d-link router in the meantime?
